Location Guide – Contacios

An excellent location for intermediate to expert kiters wanting to ride waves. Strong rips can be formed with moving sandbanks.

Lots of swimmers and surfers in the water, with a busy surf area 200m downwind. This location is very popular with short board surfers – please give way to people riding the wave when heading out. Normal surf and windsurfing right of way rules apply when riding waves.

DO NOT KITE NEAR SWIMMERS OR IN BETWEEN SURF LIFE SAVING FLAGS!!

Thieves operate in the carpark, so make sure that no valuables are left in your car.

Directions
Approx 14kms from the CBD in the suburb of Scarborough. From Scarborough, head to the furthermost North carpark.

Water Condition
Steep, sucky, small to medium waves breaking over sand banks close to shore. Steep chop out the back.

Beach Condition
Large white sandy beach, can be busy at weekends. Swimming flags will be at different location, keep well clear of these areas.
