Location Guide – Brighton Road

An excellent location for intermediate to expert kiters wanting to ride waves. Strong downwind sweep (current) along the beach in strong winds.

Local kiters pump up on the grassed areas adjacent to the Brighton Road kiosk and carry kite down to the beach. WAKSA encourages kiters to launch/land (on the beach) south of the pathway near the kiosk. DO NOT WALK UP THE PATHWAY WITH YOUR KITE IN THE AIR!!!

On busy summer days, Scarboro SLSC frequently extend the flagged area towards the pathway – kiters are required to maintain appropriate distances from other beach users when launching/landing.

Lots of swimmers and surfers in the water, plus a busy windsurf area 500m downwind. The Scarboro SLSC frequently has people training out the front on skis and paddle boards that go up to 500m offshore at 90deg angle to kiters – ALWAYS GIVE WAY.

A lot of people are trying to ride the waves at this location, give way to people riding the wave when going out. Due to the number of surfers and windsurfers at this spot, ensure you know right of way rules when riding waves.

Thieves operate in the carpark, so make sure that no valuables are left in your car.
